Jan. 1, 2012, Minneapolis -- A man lays down in the snow to take a picture of his custom bicycle in Loring Park near downtown Minneapolis, Minn. on the evening of Jan. 1, 2012. After a unseasonably warm December, mother nature took a cold turn on New Year's Eve, dropping 10 degrees, an inch of snow and blowing wind gusts up to 35 mph through New Year's Day, according to the National Weather Service.

Inspired my by friend Heather Byington’s 365 project, I have decided to do my own photo-a-day project. I will be exploring as many aspects of photojournalism as I can over the course of the year.
