On January 22, 2010, the Augsburg College wrestling program celebrated “Six Decades of Dominance,” marking the sixtieth anniversary of the program’s founding in 1949 by Edor Nelson and Oliver Dahl. Before the scheduled meet with the University of Nebraska at Omaha — the number one team in Division II — the program held a short celebration with a presentation of the wrestling team’s history. Nebraska — Omaha wrestler Austin Boehm attempts a blackflip in an effort to escape from Augsburg wrestler Brad Baus in the 184 pound bout in a dual meet between UNO and Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minn. on January 22, 2010. Boehm, the sixth-ranked wrestler in Division II, defeated Baus 13–6, while Augsburg upset the Mavericks 18–12 in the battle of top-ranked teams in Division II and III.

Jayson Ness pins his way through the Auggie Open
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010On November 21, I had the privilege of shooting University of Minnesota wrestler Jayson Ness pin his way through the Auggie-Brute-Adidas Open at Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minn. Ness — the second-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division I and three-time All-American — had no problems with his Division II and III and NAIA opponents.
