MINNEAPOLIS — Members of the Augsburg College wrestling team gather at the end of a 38–3 victory over Minnesota State University Moorhead on January 17, 2012 in Minneapolis, Minn. Augsburg won the last nine of ten matches, including six with bonus points.

I had a great opportunity to go to South High School and shoot some wrestling with Steve Kotvis (f/go photography). It was a blast.

St. Johns wrestler Chad Henle fights off a reversal attempt by Wartburg’s Tommy Mirocha in their 133-pound first round match at the 2011 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships in La Crosse, Wis. Henle defeated the eighth-seeded Mirocha 10–8 in overtime. Henle placed seventh while Mirocha placed fourth.

Before the annual Battle of the Burgs, where Augsburg College and Wartburg College square off on the mat, Augsburg hosted a high school dual meet between Albert Lea and Coon Rapids high schools. Albert Lea ran away with the match 41–16.
A first for me was strobing the match. I used four Photogenic 1250s in each corner of the mat. Each was set at half power.
Camera settings are generally: Canon 7D + Canon 70–200. f/125 at f/3.5. ISO 200.

Action between Paul Bjorkstrand (Augsburg) and Bebeto Yewah (Wisconsin-La Crosse) in the 133 pound final of the 2010 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on March 6. Yewah won the match 14–9. Augsburg won the team title for the 11th time in 20 years.
