February 18, 2012: St. Olaf gets the Goat

For only the sec­ond time since 2000, St. Olaf cap­tured the men’s bas­ket­ball Goat Tro­phy — giv­en to the win­ner of the sea­son se­ries be­tween crosstown ri­vals St. Olaf and Car­leton Col­lege in North­field, Minn.

To­day was Se­nior Day at St. Olaf and the Oles hon­ored three se­niors. Two of them com­bined for 44 of the Oles’ 73 points.

St. Olaf Head Coach Dan Kos­mos­ki hon­ored three se­niors be­fore the game: Mark Weil­coh, Bob­by Fong and Stu Neville. Fong has start­ed in all but two games in his ca­reer, com­ing into the con­test with 1,295 points and 457 re­bounds.

St. Johns wrestler Chad Hen­le fights off a re­ver­sal at­tempt by Wartburg’s Tom­my Mirocha in their 133-pound first round match at the 2011 NCAA Di­vi­sion III Wrestling Na­tion­al Cham­pi­onships in La Crosse, Wis. Hen­le de­feat­ed the eighth-seed­ed Mirocha 10–8 in over­time. Hen­le placed sev­enth while Mirocha placed fourth.
