February 18, 2012: St. Olaf gets the Goat

For only the sec­ond time since 2000, St. Olaf cap­tured the men’s bas­ket­ball Goat Tro­phy — giv­en to the win­ner of the sea­son se­ries be­tween crosstown ri­vals St. Olaf and Car­leton Col­lege in North­field, Minn.

To­day was Se­nior Day at St. Olaf and the Oles hon­ored three se­niors. Two of them com­bined for 44 of the Oles’ 73 points.

St. Olaf start­ed strong, lead­ing by as much as six ear­ly in the first half, but Car­leton bat­tled back to lead by five with just un­der six min­utes left in the half, forc­ing St. Olaf to call a full time­out.
