Here is the second installment of my 366 day photo series. I was walking downtown and I was struck immediately by how empty this building was.

A man and woman walk through an otherwise deserted section of the Minneapolis Skyway on January 2, 2012. With New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday, many downtown business were closed the day after, including a convenience store, coffee shop, hair salon, dry cleaner, staffing agency and a restaurant on the second floor of the Campbell Mithun Tower.
Inspired my by friend Heather Byington’s 365 project, I have decided to do my own photo-a-day project. I will be exploring as many aspects of photojournalism as I can over the course of the year.

Jan. 1, 2012, Minneapolis — A man lays down in the snow to take a picture of his custom bicycle in Loring Park near downtown Minneapolis, Minn. on the evening of Jan. 1, 2012. After a unseasonably warm December, Mother Nature took a cold turn on New Year’s Eve, dropping 10 degrees, an inch of snow and blowing wind gusts up to 35 mph through New Year’s Day, according to the National Weather Service.
Since it was so cold today after being warm in December, I knew I wanted something showing the cold and I didn’t have to go any farther than Loring Park to get this image of a man photographing his bicycle.
